My Sites for SharePoint Web Part

My Sites for SharePoint Web Part

Your SharePoint sites, together in one place

Request the My Sites package

Ask someone where their project site is and they will often search for it, or ask a colleague for the link. Search can return sites they can open without belonging to them. A hand-maintained directory becomes another list to keep up to date.

My Sites builds a personal directory for each signed-in user. Add it to your intranet home page and everyone sees their own sites, without maintaining separate links for every team.

Start with a free list of owned sites. Choose Standard for member sites, Tiles and Teams, or Enterprise for favourites, flexible layouts and shortcuts.

Your sites, at a glance

Help people recognise the right site before they open it. Tiles bring together the site’s logo, title, description or path, and site type. Sites without a logo get recognisable initials.

With Enterprise, add links such as Documents or Site contents along the foot of each tile. People can go straight to the place they need rather than opening the site and hunting for it.

Membership, not just access

Find sites people own or belong to, rather than every site they can open. My Sites checks Microsoft 365 group relationships and SharePoint roles, ignores blanket organisation-wide access, and leaves infrastructure sites such as the app catalogue and search centre out of the directory.

A layout that suits the page

Use a straightforward List, add Tiles with Standard, or choose compact Icons with Enterprise. Enterprise also lets viewers switch layouts, with their choice remembered in their browser.

SharePoint and Teams

Use My Sites on a modern SharePoint page or as a full-page app. Standard and Enterprise also support Teams channel tabs and the personal app.

Keep your favourite sites close

  • Enterprise uses SharePoint’s own followed sites—not a separate collection of bookmarks.
  • Authors can enable stars on tiles, icons and list rows, so people can follow or unfollow a site without opening it. The Favourites list brings those sites together wherever you place My Sites.
  • A site starred in My Sites is followed in SharePoint too. Changes made elsewhere in SharePoint appear when My Sites refreshes.

One directory, different ways to find your sites

Choose the purpose of each web part. Give site owners a clear view of their responsibilities, help colleagues find the teams they belong to, or bring their followed sites onto the home page.

With Standard and Enterprise, authors can enable a dropdown so viewers choose which sites to show. Standard offers owned and member sites; Enterprise also offers Favourites.

Each viewer’s choice is remembered in the browser where they make it.

Make every click more useful

With Enterprise, a link template can send people to a document library, a page describing the site, or another web address built from the site’s own details.

Tile links add further shortcuts, such as Documents, Site contents or Settings. Configure them once and My Sites builds the links for each site. Reorder them in the property pane by dragging or using keyboard controls.

From a narrow column to full width

My Sites adapts to the space available and follows the SharePoint section’s theme, including dark sections.

Choose how many sites appear at once. People with longer directories can use Previous and Next paging or reveal the rest with Show all.

Sites appear as they are found, with a progress indicator during longer loads. Browser caching speeds up repeat visits, while page-wide request limits and throttling-aware retries help manage demand on SharePoint.

Configured in the property pane

Once an administrator has installed the package, page authors configure My Sites through the standard SharePoint property pane.

Choose which sites to show, the default layout and how many appear at once. Standard adds viewer source choice and options for opening links in the same tab, a new tab or a new window. Enterprise adds Icons, viewer layout switching, favourites and custom links.

No code or scripts are needed to configure the directory.

My Sites in Microsoft Teams

With Standard or Enterprise, add My Sites as a Teams channel tab or personal app.

People can find their SharePoint sites from Teams, then open them in a browser tab or window. A viewer on the Free tier sees an upgrade prompt in Teams rather than a site directory.

Your existing access rules still apply

My Sites runs as the signed-in user. It does not grant access to sites: SharePoint still decides what each person can open.

Site results are cached in the browser and are not sent to JFDI. Following or unfollowing a site updates the person’s SharePoint following preferences, not the site’s content.

Licence checks and seat management use a separate JFDI licensing service. The details are explained in our Web Parts Privacy Policy.
