Multifunctional HR web portal for UK SBS
JFDI developers have built UK SBS, an HR Portal based on SharePoint Online. The new solution empowers end-users to be self-sufficient with their HR, Payroll, Finance and Procurement needs. OKTA sign-in mechanisms recognise a user’s organisation to tailor the available information.
Using JFDI’s custom web parts to fine-tune SharePoint’s interfacing, finding HR-related content was more straightforward, making the entire platform accessible to meet the strict standards of the public sector. Navigation and content hierarchy was designed in a user-focused way to achieve modern workspaces for everyone.
In addition, JFDI’s advanced search functionality was also integrated to improve the user experience further. A revised news section that has a clear, attractive layout and includes not only written but also visual content. The HR portal and its content for Accounting, Purchasing, and Information Technology are managed in-house by UK SBS.
The solution has been made ready to be fully integrated with MS Teams, potentially improving the UK SBS staff’s collaboration experience. All data within the portal is GDPR compliant and can be adhered to using pre-defined policies under the control of UK SBS SharePoint administrators.
Smart search
Their HR Portal contains a vast library of documents and forms available to users. To make navigation easier, JFDI have provided several ways to browse the underlying content.
One way is to use JFDI’s innovative search facility. A dynamic search field is constantly suggesting the most appropriate content based on a phrase the user inputs.
Additionally, every file in its document library has full descriptions and the smart search mechanism leverages the applied metadata to make searching as relevant as possible.
E-Learning Suite
JFDI developers implemented an e-learning suite into the solution. Users do not have to look for learning materials outside of the portal. Instead, they can enjoy step-by-step user guides, comprehensive videos, and complete, professionally prepared e-learning modules curated by UK SBS.
Secure Sign-In
To make the portal secure and most appropriate to use, a security solution is implemented to deliver a single sign-on experience for every external user. The portal then recognises a user’s organisation and tailors the available information and content after login.
